Summer Camping

Instagram photos of our weekend camping trip at Chain o' Lakes State Park

It was a tent pitching, 7-mile hiking, campfire making, marshmallow toasting, nature walking, under-the-stars sleeping, river kayaking, s'mores eating, prairie wandering, hot dog roasting, lake splashing, summer loving kind of weekend.

Summer to-do: spend a weekend camping. Check.

How beautiful - and adventurous of you! I'm bursting with pride on your outdoorsie endeavors. You are far more adventurous than I Mrs. Ross!

What an awesome camping trip! All of those things sound and look amazing. I can almost smell the fire and hot dogs roasting! (And smores.) I'm definitely over-due for a camping trip of my own.

The leaves are already changing? Can I say how jealous I am? That won't happen here until november - if it happens at all.

@Sharon - Why thank you! I promise Chain o Lakes isn't as scary as some camping trips may seem... the park has a good mix of outhouses (which I avoided) and comfort stations with indoor plumbing. We should take a trip there sometime, if you feel adventurous anytime soon :)

@Carrie - I don't think the leaves are changing quite yet, but a lot of them have turned yellow and fallen because of the drought. But I'm excited for the actual turning of the leaves, which usually happens in Octoberish.

@Kate - Most of them were latestagrams since we didn't have any sort of connection out there, but that didn't stop me from taking them. Yay camping!

This looks like such a fun weekend! I really am going to go camping soon. I've been saying that for years but I think I really mean it this time :)

O.M.G we went camping too! Only we went on a Monday. Missed youguys at Warren Dunes State park but it was a family affair and they had prohibitive signs everywhere saying that something we love dearly was not allowed.
